After 26 years, Hans Blonk is stepping down as the founder and director of Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk. What began in 1999 as a personal mission to make sustainability measurable has, under his vision and leadership, grown into an internationally recognized company at the forefront of sustainability in the agri-food sector.

Hans Blonk says farewell to Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk
Since April 2023, Blonk has become part of Mérieux NutriSciences, a significant step to enhance the work and impact of Hans and his team to grow internationally. This transition also provides Hans with the opportunity to pass the baton and focus on new challenges. Wouter Berkhout, who recently joined Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk as the new General Manager, is taking on the leadership role.
Hans’ final working day will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
As of June 1, 2025, our office will move from Gouda to Rotterdam Alexander – a new location for a new chapter.
After 26 years, I am saying goodbye to a company that I have built and led with great pleasure into a leading player in LCA and footprinting in the agri-food sector. Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk is doing well, and the team is ready to continue on the chosen path. I am proud of the company that we have built together, a frontrunner in all components that are needed to measure the environmental performance of products and value chains. This includes expert consultancy in the field of methodology and environmental footprint claims, but also all data and digital solutions that are required for this. The time has now come for me to say farewell to this company and to think about new challenges.
I look back with great delight and gratitude on the collaboration with all the talented people in the company. That also applies to customers and other stakeholders that I have met over the years. All those inspiring conversations helped me build a meaningful business.
Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk is ready for the next phase. A new general manager at a new location in Rotterdam Alexander fits in with that. I wish Wouter every success and as much pleasure as I have had in recent years.
