Functional feed additives reduce the carbon footprint of shrimp production
Together with Adisseo, Blonk performed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study of two shrimp feed additives. Feed additives have the potential to improve the environmental performance of aquaculture, and in this case shrimp farming. Therefore, Adisseo initiated a project to measure the potential of functional feed additives to the environmental footprint of shrimp farming. The study shows that aquafeed additives (Sanacore®GM and Aqualyso®) can reduce the carbon footprint of shrimp production.

LCA of Oatly Barista and comparison with cow's milk
Oatly, a Swedish company that produces oat-based food products, has asked Blonk Consultants to perform a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to compare the environmental performance of their Oatly Barista, Oatly “No” Sugars and Oatly Oat Drink (Whole, Semi and Light) products to cow’s milk. The study covers six sales markets: DE, FI, NL, SE, and the UK (for all products), and the US (for Oatly Barista only). In addition, the study has analysed the main drivers behind the environmental impact of Oatly Barista, and has identified potential opportunities for improvement.

GME LCA platform
In 2019 Blonk started a project for Growing Media Europe (GME), the European association of growing media producers, to set up a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) platform, making it easy and accessible for their members and any other stakeholder to measure and improve the environmental footprint of growing media products.
The GME LCA platform is an online tool that brings together the Growing Media Environmental Footprint Guidelines (GMEF guidelines) and an LCA database.

APS-footprint - Measure, monitor and improve the impact of animal production systems
Blonk developed the Animal Production System footprinting platform (APS-footprint) to help stakeholders in the animal production value chain tackle the sector’s environmental challenges. It enables organizations to develop, apply and monitor proven solutions to reduce the environmental impact and create more sustainable products.
